Hello! I am new to the computer-parts thing. I play World of Warcraft, Skyrim, pokemon and various other games on my PC.

Unfortunately my computer is falling apart, so I decided to try to assemble one! My boyfriend is great with computers, so he has agreed to help me put it together.

What I want to know is if these parts I have selected are compatible and will work decently together. I am on a budget and I am trying to get the most for my money, while keeping it under $700. I'm very open to suggestions if there is a flaw or two.

The parts I've chosen:

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146025
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157303
CD Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204
Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817154026
Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103871
Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231421
Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136770

Thank you!

So this is pretty messed up. First off the case will fit the motherboard however the motherboard does not fit the pocessor. That motherboard is an LGA 1155 socket where as the CPU is AM3. If you want an AMD based system which is the processor you have here then that is the list i will make and you can go off of that.

CPU-You have a choice here. You can stick with that 3.0 GHz quad core Athlon ii or spend another $25.00 and get the Phenom ii which is newer and faster (recommended). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727

MOBO- This will work with either of those two processors (the phenom ii and the athlon ii). Another choice. The first one is a ATX motherboard so compared to a micro ATX mobo like you had can support more RAM, has more RAM slots, and another GPU slot. It also supports faster RAM, which we will get to later. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138372 The other one is micro atx so it has 1 GPU slot 2 RAM slots and doesn't support faster RAM. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138345

Power Supply- I recommend getting a black power supply since your case has a nice side window. By the way that case is really cool! - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152028 This is 430 watts which will be enough for this build.

RAM- This will be a long one. If you go with the ATX motherboard I recommend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231310 that is 4GB of 1333MHz RAM. With the four RAM slots on the ATX MOBO it leaves lots of expansion for the future. If you go with the Micro-ATX MOBO I recommend
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231485 that is 8GB of the same RAM. It is in one stick so that you can add another 8GB if you feel the need. Another note if you go with the ATX MOBO, I would say get 8GB either way but if you get 4GB now and don't feel it's enough you still have 3 more slots, where as with micro ATX you would only have 1 more and you will need more than 8GB for the future. So overall if you go with the ATX board than you can get 1 stick of 4gb but if you go with the micro atx board i strongly urge you to get 1 stick of 8gb.

Hard Drive- The other one looked funky. It was OEM and didn't seem to have much info about it but this one is the same price and has the specs. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136769

CD drive is good oh and GPU

GPU- Really, get a good GPU. That one just is not great. Get at least http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102950 I know its a bit more expensive but you don't want to skimp here.

That should be it. Feel free to ask me more questions via reply on this post or PM!

Wow! Thank you so so so much! I really appreciate the time you took to help me find better solutions to my dilemma. As I said, I'm new to the computer-parts thing (I feel like that statement should be followed by 'I reckon') and I very much appreciate the fact that you didn't call me dumb.

Thank you so much! Oh, and yes, I agree. The case is very cool. :)

Also! Should I get windows 8? If so, what version and where can I find it cheapest? :3

Dumb? Of course not! I have only been into computers for a couple months now and you can see it is very easy to get educated on the matter.

So windows. This is a personal preference. If you want windows 8 then that's what you should get. Just know that windows 8 was built more for tablets and touch screen computers. Of course, it works fine on any desktop but windows 7 is the tried and true operating system. Are you in college? Because if you are you can get windows 8 for $40.00 (I believe that's the price) using a .edu email address. You can also take advantage of this if you know someone who would be willing to let you use their email and you can pay them back or whatever. Just know that you can only get the college discount once so if you use someone else's they will not be able to use it again. Oh and make sure to get the 64-bit version NOT the 32-bit version.

Okay. After I wrote that out I found out that the student version of win 8 is only for download so they cost the same and in my opinion you should get win 7 but it's up to you. Here are the links.
