Hey guys,

I will be sourcing the parts for this build from the follow website msy.com.au

I have already decided on the GPU which is going to be a 7950.
Just looking for some help on the CPU, motherboard and power side of things.

From my understanding I should be going for an i7 due to the video editing I will be doing. If you could also let me know what type of mother board and power supply I would need for the build that would be great.

I really don't want to bottle neck the system and my current budget is around $350-500 for the CPU, motherboard and power supply.

The build will primarily be for gaming but I will be editing 720 & 1080p footage as well.

Hi, you can find a good australian website for pc parts like pccasegear, it should be more or less in there.
But i think getting the parts in pccasegear goes cheaper ;)

Should I not bother with a k version for the over clocking ability?
The price difference doesn't seem that much

If I was to go with the overclocking version
Could you list what motherboard you would suggest?

Hi, if you plan to overclock, get the i7-3770k but it's more expensive, you need a z77 motherboard if you want to overclock the cpu and also an aftermarket cooler is recommended for it.
It adds up to the cost, the i7-3770 will give the same results at stock or with turbo speeds, but if you want to oc the cpu, there's this.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($345.00 @ PCCaseGear)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77M Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($86.00 @ PCCaseGear)
Power Supply: Antec High Current Gamer 620W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($99.00 @ PCCaseGear)
Total: $530.00
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

It goes above the budget, if you want an atx motherboard, this will do : http://pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_1183&products_id=19864

Add more ~19$.

I didn't see your post, it's a decent motherboard to go with the i7-3770k, if you can fit it with that antec psu, it will do the trick ;)

I'll have a further look into them.
I just thought because I'm spending so much I may as well go with the over clocking ability.
Would be kinda stupid spending $700 and for an extra $100 having the ability to over lock.

What are your thoughts on that

Hi, well, it's up to you if you think it's worth the extra cost, the i7-3770 locked is also good for the price, and it will not bottleneck the 7950 or will disappoint in editing tasks, the i7-3770k is for enthusiasts who can afford to get a good motherboard and a cooling system and what to overclock to ~4.5 ghz or more, one might say the i7-3770k is more "future proof".

I have to think about it than I guess
Because I wouldn't have the first clue about how to overclock
But because of the price difference I thought why not

Hi, for the price i saw, that one is good for the price, you pay for quality, you might find some cheap psus but those are not worth the costs, the rule is never cheap out on a psu, it's the heart of the system.

Hey just another quick question.
My current motherboard is a ASRock 870 Extreme3 USB DDR3

Should I be doing as suggested and buy the ASRock Z77 PRO3 Motherboard you listed above.
If I am going for the i7 3770k?

Hi, the z77 pro 3 is decent, there're better motherboards out there, but more expensive ones, the asrock will do the trick if you're low in cash.
The motherboard supports the cpu out of the box and you can overclock it, it has also plenty of features ;)

Okay so all purchased and installed
Now my computer won't boot because I guess all it's settings are setup for the old hardware.

It just keeps taking me to the windows recovery screen
