Dear People of the forums,

I am about to go into engineering school to become an electrical engineer. I will be using mostly Coders ( to code) and Auto Cad, and probably other intensive designing programs i haven't heard of yet.

My Question to you people is that will I be needing to upgrade based on your opinion, to a new CPU, and if so what motherboard and RAM should I go out and buy.

OR do you think I will be ok and if there is anything I should do what should it be.

NOTICE!! I will be running Windows 7 64 bit

Here are some options for the CPU that I have picked out

i7 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116502

Heres a motherboard I have found.

My computer specs are in the signature

Other uses will be playing BF3, BF4 ( If its good lol), Diablo 3, Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite, iTunes, Chrome, and possibly Lightroom

Any suggestion and opinion is welcome

Thank you

The 3770k is a great CPU, if you need more cores you should take a look at the 3930k. The motherboard is good. I would recommend gettin 2x8gb ram which will not be expensive at all. Can you please give me a budget to work with if you haven't made the upgrade yet.

I'm inclined to go with the 3770k if you are going to use your computer for production means. A 2011 chip is more expensive then I think you need to be going. Also, I agree that 16GB may be the sweet spot for you.
