Hi,

I've recently upgraded to 2 high resolution monitors.. and now have:
- Dell U2913WM (max res 2560x1080)
- Dell U2713HM (max res 2560x1440)

Only to realize that my HIS Radeon 2GB GDDR5 HD6950 only has one DVI Dual Link.. and the other is only a DVI Single Link.
Therefore when I got the second of the screens above, it only allows me a max resolution of 1920x1080.

I was not expecting to upgrade or change my rig for a while yet, but what are my alternatives? I figured more recent cards would have them by now, but looking at the specs of the 7970 Ghz edition Vapor X I still see the same limitation of only one DVI Dual Link.

I've stayed away from SLI/Crossfire setups in the past.. but what are my single and 2 card options? Always trying to get best bang for the buck.

Current Mobo is a ASRock Z68Pro3, Antec DF-85 case, PSU ANTEC|650W EA-650 GREEN RT.
But if required I could reluctantly do a completely new build.

Thanks in advance for your help..

Thanks for the compatibility grid... good to know.

Just realized my MoBo (z68 Pro3) only has one PCIe x16 slot.. never intended to go with 2 cards, so like I'd have to go with a brand new build if there is no single card solution.
Not seeing many 69xx available (in Canada), and wondering if worth spending on old tech anyway if I'm building a new one.

Any suggestions on a 1 and 2 card solutions, and a hint on what MoBo's I should be looking at to go with?

Wow.. I'm obviously not more than someone who dabbles at making his own rig every couple of years, I don't know much.

I've only really dealt with VGA/DVI/HDMI... didn't know anything about Display ports so was ignoring them completely. Looking at the specs of my card I see that the other port than can handle high res is the display port, here I was battling with my DVI ports when all I needed to do was plug in one Dell with the Dual DVI, and the other with the Display port cable.
Duh.

Now both screens are running as their respective native resolutions:
- Dell U2913WM (2560x1080)
- Dell U2713HM (2560x1440)

From what I can see I could try daisy chaining them, but everything works so why bother. ;)

Thanks again, problem solved.
