Gaming GPU Dual Display Question

I have a Sapphire 7870 XT with a DVI output to my monitor and a HDMI to my TV, a lot of times when I game I load up both displays and launch the game on my TV and play with a controller (like I have been doing with Tomb Raider recently) while keeping my monitor running as normal. This is useful if I need to looking something up or just browse some files.

My question is, is this straining my GPU?

No it wont stain your gpu, there is a small impact on performance in games but not enough to notice that much.

Okay I didn't notice a difference but I did see that the game doesn't fit correctly on the screen. It's too large and some of the UI is cut off around the edges, and the task bar is partially cut off. It doesn't make any sense because if the TV is the only display it fits correctly, any ideas?
