I have a new PC and 8 GB of RAM so I'm trying to conserve as much resource usage as possible. Right now I have Microsoft Security Essentials, and it cuts performance, just a little bit, but enough. What do you guys suggest that's free, comparable, and lighter on my system? Thanks. Feel free to suggest something that's not free also, but for now I'd rather have free avs.

Hi :)

In my shops we fix/remove viruses...

To be honest MSE is the lightest of the Free ones....

Norton Internet Security 2013 is the lightest of the paid ones (under 1%)

All my shops machines use Norton...

All the best Brett :)

I use Avast! Free. I've been using it for the past 4 or 5 years on my primary PC, laptop and HTPC.

I also run the free version of Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware. You need to manually execute it though. The paid version does auto scans. It is not a standalone anti-virus program. It's more of a supplemental program for additional screening.
