Hi :)

As title sugests. £2000 to spend on awesome sauce gaming rig. Will be my first build, but feel pretty confident in what goes where.

The water cooling (CPU/GPU/'S/MOBO/RAM-just to look like awesome sauce) isn't included in the budget as that will be present from a few friends however if you can recommend anyway, that'd be awesome balls.

What I'll be requiring the rig to function for: high graphics intence games/streaming/recording/video editing/REDDIT.

Just rig only, no peripherals.

Preferences - go nuts. oh actually I favor the cosmos 2, however if theres a better case for watercooling please advise.

appreciate any help with this conundrum :)

That pump won't be good enough for that WC loop. Martin has reviewed it and rates it not far above the pump you get inside an AIO unit. Basically good enough for a CPU loop, but not for anything bigger.

Thats funny as i have it running exactly that loop in a friends system and he gets excellent performance temps.

I'm sure it works fine. However, the restriction it's working against will be quite high for what that pump is intended for, and one day it may well just pack in. For a new WC loop, where the OP has the option, I'd recommend something like the D5. Bay reservoirs are also quite noisy, as I've found out to my dismay...negated the silence benefit of WC for me due to vibration.

Manofchalk made a good point on another thread. It's best to tackle the system build first, get that sorted, and then go for the WC loop. Doing both at the same time will be hard work, unless the OP is an experienced system builder.

Oh that's scary to see my name already mentioned in a thread I haven't looked in

Pretty much. While usually I say keep everything bound in the one thread to just make it easier on the people helping, when it involves water just say "Custom water-cooling" and start a new thread in the Water-cooling forum on the topic. Just its very niche topic that relatively few know, and requires a lot of explanation that can turn off people who would otherwise reply to the thread.

@Uther
Its better that the OP configures their own loop rather than receives it on a platter. IMO, its the one are where we shouldn't just give out parts lists.

Agree with Diellur on the pump, the X20 750's do vibrate a bit and arent really meant to deal with more than a CPU loop.

So basically the rig has to do everything, easy enough.

I didn't comment on the build initially, but figured I'd throw in my £0.02 worth now. A high-end gaming system doesn't need to be Sandy-E...an i5-3570K will be more than enough for the next few years in a gaming rig. It'll also cost approx. £270 less. You can make a similar saving with the motherboard...get a S1155 mobo in the region of £150 (so it has the versatility with its OC options) and save another £170ish. That's a saving of £440 for no real sacrifice when it comes to a gaming system.

I'd personally budget a bit more for the WC loop (I've recently put my own system under water and spent closer to £500 on it). That can be argued and tweaked, but let's say for the time being that that leaves you with a spare £240, having gone for an Ivybridge-based system and upped the WC budget. You've not said what resolution you're gaming at, but with two 7970s I'm guessing it'll be relatively high. Remove the two 7970s, that gives you £650 (see where I'm going yet?), add that to the £240 and go for a TITAN. For a gaming system, that should meet the 'awsome sauce' criterion, IMHO. ;)

Though will a 3570k do for video-editing and live streaming purposes specified in the OP?
Mobo I'l admit is probably overkill, haven't decided on a good X79 board to just recommend outright like I would an AsRock Extreme4 or similar.

300 pound is $455 in US dollar, that seems about right to water-cool the rig IMO. I initially put down 400 pound but though that was a bit ridiculous.
What awesome sauce gaming rig doesn't have a 3x1080p setup :D , or at least a 2560x1440 screen. The Titan option may end up being cheaper actually, since its one water-block vs two and also reduces the need for a second pump.

I guess it depends on how much he does...perhaps an i7-3770K would serve the OP better (I forgot that he had those other uses in mind, have to hold my hands up to that!). I've nothing against Sandybridge-E, but unless you're a hardcore enthusiast I feel reluctant to suggest it (would love to actually have one, however!). The performance increase isn't justified by the price, IMHO.

I would struggle to put together a WC build I was happy with that was cooling a CPU and GPUs and keep it within £300, but I guess it depends on what WC kit he gets. I'm new to the WC game, as you know, so quite happy to defer to better knowledge than my own. :)  A cheaper loop works for the OP too...more funds for other kit.

At risk of derailing the thread, I'm currently arguing between 5760x1080 and 2560x1440. Although the former seems cool, I have a suspicion I'll get the latter...just need to save up for the thing! Not to mention probably have to upgrade my GPUs after that, but I reckon I can muddle through for a while on two 560Tis. I also need to stop window-shopping for additions to my WC loop. ;)

You might be new, but you'v actually got a more complex loop than I do. I'm still running a Raystorm kit + another 360mm rad  .
Eventually I will upgrade to include a 7970 into the loop, but that's looking to be a $700 upgrade once everything is done. So I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I personally would go with 3x1080p monitors. If you do the math you get more pixels than a 2560x1440 monitor, and I'v become addicted to how useful triple monitors are. Surround/Eyefinity gaming just has this aura of cool around it that just isn't present with a 1440p monitor I think. When a non-techie walks through the door and sees a 27" monitor, its nothing special. Walk through the door and see three, its like your a goddamn wizard :D .
Then you tell them theres water in the computer  .

Though benefits to a 1440p monitor, its most likely IPS. Eyefinity/Surround would require TN panels for it not too become ridiculously expensive.

WC is definitely something that can spiral out of control! I've already had to split out my pump from the res (waiting on some more kit arriving before I update my build log) and am focusing on tidying up the loop. And then I'll stop, I hope!

My options are either one Catleap or 2 more U2312HMs (use one right now as my monitor). I need to do more reading, but as I can't afford anything until probably November/December, I'll at least be well informed when I do pull the trigger!

*it's she! :)

@allofyou Sorry for posting in the wrong place!

And holy crap, I can't believe the response you've all given me! this is definitely AWESOME SAUCE, thank you :)  I'm actually struggling with information overload. I think there all proper cool rig's.

I think what you've suggested is a brilliant setup manofchalk. Would you say the mobo is overkill though? Also what do you think about diellur's idea of opting for a coool cleeaan 690 instead of the sli 7970's?

A TITAN card isn't a 690. A 690 is two 680 GPUs on the same board, so effectively SLI using a single slot. A TITAN is more powerful than a single 680, but less so than a 690. A 690 also has the issues associated with SLI...now, I'm no expert on that, and have recently gone SLI myself (totally happy, too), but that may be hassle you don't want.

Edit: You could also get a 7990 instead of two 7970s...same principal as the 690, except it's AMD's version. With both, you can get another 690/7990 later and get quad-SLI.

Ahh i see. Thank's for filling me in, I would have been clueless otherwise! I'm going to check out the 7990/690 and look at some bentchmarks between the two as well.

What issues do you find yourself having with SLI?

Thanks guys, I took all your suggestions into consideration and am going with the above based on what you've all outlined!

Is there anything here you think i could change or maybe there's something slightly overkill?
