Hi guys I was hoping for some help

Where I work we are currently building a network monitoring system so we can monitor interfaces and network devices. Is there any way I can run a program on a computer with the monitoring system attached to the network to test all is well and working before we implement it to out main network?

Kind of something that can fabricate interface errors maybe?

Why not ask whoever made the monitoring system you are using? Not very hard to create errors, wire a ethernet cable the wrong way, cut a wire from one, unplug the cord at random times.

Depends on what you are monitoring for. If it is for ports then simply setup a telnet server on a monitored port and telnet to it from the work station to see if it through an alert. There are also port testers out there like...

If you are monitoring denied IPs then a simple ping test will do.

If you are looking at ARP scans then you can use an ARP Ping tool or an ARP mapper like Eitherial or Kane and Able..

So we need to know what kind of pen testing you need.
