Hi everyone! So I just installed a 3tb hard drive onto my computer. I installed windows 8 onto the drive and partitioned off 100gb for the main boot partition. Then I separated the rest into 3 partions of 1000gb, 948gb, and the left over is 746.52.

This is how it is set up currently.

I had to make a new simple volume for drive ( G: ) but I cannot use the rest of the unallocated space as the "New Simple Volume" choice is greyed out. I was searching around the interenet to find out what how others fixed the issue but I couldn't find the same options to try them out. Thought I would post here and see what help I could get.

Thanks for your time and help:)

Those may need to be GPT partitions instead of MBR in which case if that's your boot drive you need to be running the 64 bit version of win8 and have a UEFI motherboard. Win8 isn't mentioned below, but I think it's because this article came out before win 8 was around.

Q. Can Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008 read, write, and boot from GPT disks?

A. Yes, all versions can use GPT partitioned disks for data. Booting is only supported for 64-bit editions on UEFI-based systems.

Would that be all of the partitions then? Or can I set it up in BIOS just for the unallocated space? I think I understand it a bit but didn't see much on how to setting it up.
