I'm buying a fast desktop to replace my 13yr. old good-working but slow desktop
and don't want the Win 8 that will come with pc. 1-Will XP64 bit operation work on my XP32 bit programs and data that I have along with MS OFFICE PRO 2003 when I install them on the new pc?
2-How do you get the mfgr. "not" install Win 8? 3-Won't the mfgr. just format the HD if I ask them?
Thanks

I'd recommend Windows 7, 64 bit is fine as long as you are getting over 4 gig of RAM, and you check compatibility with your programs.

XP 64 bit is a bit of an oddball, it is better not to mess with that, it does not have a lot of hardware support.

You need to check with where you buy the computer if they will sell it without Windows pre-installed, or better yet, if they will just sell it with 7 instead of 8.
