Hello All,

So I have a simple question and I apologize if this has been asked before. I am looking at the Radeon HD 7970 (In Crossfire) and I have two cards in mind. The two cards are:

1) The Sapphire HD 7970 OC ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-202-008&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=3#scrollFullInfo )

and

2) The Sapphire HD 7970 Ghz Edition (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202001 )

My questions is this: If I can safely (and be stable) OC the 7970 OC (Card 1) to the same specs as the 7970 Ghz (Card 2) would it be worth getting the 7970 Ghz Edition (Card 2) or could I save some money and get the 7970 OC (Card 1) and just OC it.

Thank you in advance for the help.

If you don't want to mess around with overclocking just get the preclocked ones. the 7970 overclocks well. 2 7970's most likely wont need a overclock to perform well though

I would not normally mess around with OCing, but if it would save me almost $80-$100 (x2) I would OC. My questions would be, would OCing Card 1 to the specs of Card 2 be worth the savings of buying Card 1 over Card 2?

Imo not really. Just get the cards that you personally like the best and you will be happy

Would going with the Card 2 (Ghz Edition) be more of a future proof choice?

What I am trying to do is by the parts that will last me the longest. My last build did that.

Honestly all of the 7850's overclock very well. Go with the best cheap card that you like and overclock it.
