Hey all

A friend of mine is looking to put together a gaming rig within a $1500 budget. The objective is to get the most bang for the buck given that limit. Games that will be played are going to vary quite a bit so I can't call out a specific game and benchmark to shoot for but he would like for the system to be able to run the games currently on the market (Crysis 3, Skyrim, Bioshock: Infinite, etc) on at least medium settings (preferably higher). I do know that the game he enjoys the most at this moment is Starcraft II. Given this game is not on the "cutting edge" of graphics right now, we'd like to see this game run maxed if at all possible. I know the above is possible because, about 2 years ago, I built a system for just over $1000 (with the help of you guys!) that I still use to this day and it runs all of the above quite well (not maxed but on high or ultra- settings).

Priorities are that this system would be something that could receive upgrades in the future. Additionally, things such as having a flashy case, top notch cooling, or the exorbitant amounts of RAM are unnecessary.

On top of the above, I own 3 sticks of Vengeance DDR3 RAM at 4GB/stick that I'm happy to give away to him so if you feel those would be useful, feel free to include them in the build!

Thanks so much in advance and please do ask any questions. I'll do my best to respond promptly.

Hi, you can downgrade the gpu for a 660 ti, if your friend doesn't need that much gpu.
And change the psu(overkill, just an option for SLI) for the XFX 550W @ newegg.

Wow thank you so much for the build! It looks perfect as far as I can tell and will more than suit his needs. I'll run the specs by him and see if he wants to save a few bucks on downgrading the PSU or getting the ti GPU.

Thanks again for the help!
