I bought a dual channel 16gb set of ares 1866 ram and am running on a GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 3.0) board...

(here's the build...)
AMD FX - 8350 @ 4ghz
GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 3.0)
gskill 16gb dual channel ares 1866 (@ 1333)
HIS Iceq x2 7950 @ 1200/1400
seasonic x650

As this is my first build, naturally i haven't a clue how to go about setting up this ram to its full potential... any help would be excellent

I have the same mobo as you and ran into the same problem with g.skill sniper 1866. You need to set the voltage and timings manually. What's the exact model number of your RAM? Mine comes in both CS9 and CS10. If you tell me the model number, I can tell you what to input on what bios screen to get it working.

Also: This board only supports one stick per channel at 1866, so even if you set the timings correctly, it won't post if they aren't in the correct slots. You need them in the slot closest to the CPU, skip one, second stick, skip the last one.

manually set the dram voltage to 1.5 even if it's already there. (first pic)

manually adjust the following settings under dram configuration (second pic)

memory clock x9.33

1T/2T command timing 2T
CAS# latency 10T
RAS to CAS R/W Delay 11T
Row Precharge Time 10T
Minimum RAS Active Time 30T

Ahhhh.... you have the revision 3 board while I have the 1.1 which is why you have uefi bios while I have classic. DRAM configuration is under the M.I.T. settings for mine, that's where I go to set the 10-11-10-30. It looks like you're only at 1600 which would be 8.00 and not 9.33

Getting closer, but still not there. Make sure to disable EOCP (easy over clock profile) if you have one so that it doesn't interfere with your manual settings.

I'm going to the store for some beer. I'll check back in about 10 min.

That image was an example to give you an idea what I am looking at...

mine says:

BIOS Version FA
BCLK 200.98MHZ
CPU Freq 4018.00MHZ
Memory Freq 1875.87MHZ
Total Memory Size 16384MB

Vcore 1.404v
Dram Voltage 1.476v

does that mean I'm done?
