I am trying to install 2 older IDE drives on my computer. I run Windows 8 x86, 3 GB DDR2 RAM, P4 3.00 Ghz x64 CPU.

I want to use the IDE's strictly as storage (or have them available to pull files from), and I have 1 SATA I use to pull off other files (I have a lot of recorded TV with Windows Media Center I watch).

I put the jumpers on the IDE's to both slave. My thinking was if I put them as slaves, the computer would not try and boot from them.

My tower does not recognize the IDE's. Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance for all the help.

You must change the jumpers of one of the HDDs as Master, even though it is not your boot drive.
As long as the HDDs are not selected as the 1st Boot Device in your motherboard's BIOS then you won't have any issues.

ok, also is there any type of voltage/wattage issues to be worried about when using that many hdds? i'm on the computer now, so i will wait to do that before bed. (just have to unplug the power, and then plug in the drives.)
