Hey, so I'm looking to upgrade my computer and thinking about buying a new Processor and graphics card.

Currently I have:

Processor- AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core
RAM- 12 GB
Graphics- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 SE
(with 4095 MB Total available graphics memory)
Operating System- Windows 7 64x
Power Supply- Cool-master GX 750W *bronze*

As I said before I was thinking about upgrading firstly my GPU and secondly me CPU if I need it. I like playing some of the more intensive games such as Battlefield 3 and ARMA3. Currently i can play them on medium to low graphics and would like to try to reach a point where I will be able to play them on high (not max).

I realize that budget is a major factor in what you should get so i was looking at the $150-250 total range, is that even possible? or do i need to spend more then that? and what would you guys recommend?

Thanks so much!

you need to spend more money if you wanna play games on high settings
get these:

GPU: get GTX 670 or radeon HD7970 for that purpose
CPU : fx-8350 8-core

yeah unfortunetely for 200 the most you can get is a decent graphics card( hd 7850) this will boost your fps but it may be bottlenecked by your 4100

but this in mind get these two things(a little extra but its worth it)

GPU HD 7850

CPU FX-4300

I know its a bit more than 250 but you can play bf3 maxed with this at 30-40(maybe even 50) below 30 every once and a while but great for the price, as well as you should have no bottlenecking with your cpu because the new architecture of the FX series is much better than the first one, this means that as long as you overclock you cpu your fps will be similar to someone who has a cpu like a 3570k

You might be able to get away with either a CPU or GPU not both. Even then the gpu is pushing it. FX-8350 = $180 approx. GPU = 7870 ~ $220 for high settings @ 1080p (not very high or ultra you need a 7950/7970 or gtx 670/680 for that).

Edit: or a 7850 2gb ~ $185

Thanks for the good suggestion i think ill look into it, My budget I set was pretty lenient I just kind of threw out a number so that I could get an idea for how much I would need. I was looking around and i saw the gtx 650 was around 150ish is this i good card or i it worth it to pay the $30 more and get the 7850?

Also I have a question about overclocking, I understand what it does to your computer but I don't actually know how you would do it...

Thanks again!

no problem, also yeah get the 7850 definetely the 650 is not very good at least not against the 7850 so yeah, get the 7850 definetely and if your price range is actually pretty lenient think about getting the fx-6300 or a 7850ghz/7870 stock

6300

7850 ghz

7870
- dont forget that this is only if you want to really get good performance... it will cost more but your performance will definitely show...

the thing is though that you may not need the cpu upgrade, if you overclock your cpu to something like 4.5 or 4.7(what i used to have) then you should be fine

also can you please list all your parts including the motheboard, psu
