Hi,
I was looking for insight on the Radeon 8000 series (non-OEM). I currently have 2 5870's. but because I have a 1920*1080 and 2 1280*1024 monitors, I would like to use SoftTH to be able to play on all 3 monitors. The unfortunate thing is that right now, at such a high combined resolution and added to the fact that SoftTH doesn't support crossfire, DIRT 3 only runs at 25-35 FPS off of one card. I was hoping to upgrade to an 8970 when they came out, so I can run 3 monitors fluidly as well as have a Quadro FX 4600 run PhysX for me.
I was wondering, when is the 8970 expected to come out? I was refraining from upgrading to a 7970 because it would be more of a sidegrade than an upgrade I think, and I hope since the Titan has been released, the 8970 has a benchmark to aim for, performance-wise.
I was thinking of getting an HIS 7970 IceQ X2 card for $350, but again, I would rather upgrade when there is one single (and relatively affordable) card that destroys my two cards without question.
So, what is everyone's predictions for the 8000 series? Release date? Price? Performance? I'm hoping that its flagship can be at least as fast as the Titan when it does come out, seeing as how it got delayed and everything
