my budget is not the most lenient, but i'm curious if I've put together a decent build. I would mostly use this for gaming, recording, Photoshop, and possibly the Unity engine later down the road. i'll post links to the parts and would like to hear some thoughts as well as some suggestions.

the motherboard- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157262
this will all be paired with 8gbs of corsair vengeance ram running at 1600, hyper 212 evo, an asus dvd writer, and all will be inside a rosewill thor v2 case. i have already purchased these parts.

For the price OP listed, it's already a good build. To improve it by a bit, he would have to spend some more money which I don't think he'll like to do. The ASRock 970 is a decent motherboard though I do believe that the psu is a half/half chance of working or being DOA.
You could basically improve any build by giving more expensive parts...

i lean more towards nvidia gpu's mainly for physx and cuda. i hear it helps when rendering files or using adobe's creative suite. the power supply and motherboard is where i'm not so sure about as i'm not amd savy.

With the next gen consoles running on the AMD platform, developers are going to start making their games to work better with AMD gpus imo. Which is why I feel an AMD gpu would be a good bet for the near future atleast.

i've seen benchmarks and reviews comparing cards of the two companies and from what i've seen AMD cards are not as stable. they appear to have many dips compared to the opposition.
