I have an ancient desktop that was bought probably 4 years ago. It's a HP Pavilion Elite HPE-188d. Specs can be found here:HPE-188d
Can I upgrade the graphic card? And if so, what can I upgrade it to? Or is it better to get a new rig?
P.S I'm really new to hardware.

that i7-860 was among the first generation of i7 for mainstream platform (LGA 1156). albeit was a bit old i think it still can hold it's ground just fine in current games. it seems your pc already have 8GB of ram. so i think you just need to upgrade the gpu. you can leave everything else just as it is. what is your budget and gaming resolution?

The GTX 260 is roughly comparable to radeon 7750. the gpu you can upgrade to depends on your budget. if your budget is under $200 then the 7850 2gb will suit you well. if your budget is around $300 then the 7950 3gb vaporX will be an excellent choice.
