Hd videos are not running smoothly

Hi,
i have Pentium-4 , 2.26 GHz processor with 2GB ram Desktop ....
and there is not running smoothly Hd videos like 720p OR 1080p videos . . .can u tell me what is the problem ???

It depends what program you are using to watch the videos. VLC will play them rather smoothly. Installing k-lite codec pack might help.
