Operating System choices?

Why Windows is/is not the preferable operating system for most users. What are its strengths/weaknesses? Which operating system or Windows model should i be looking for in my new build? I am a gamer by the way.

If you are a gamer and you want to spend some money Windows 7 64Bit is the way to go, it is the most widely used easy to use secure OS of any windows OS.
If you are a gamer and you do not want to spend money Linux is a fine operating system that you can use for free, and has similar performance. Plus there is no malicious software for linux... Every game can run on linux without a problem.

pretty much the only option for gaming is windows. for linux, it doesnt have the most extensive selection but im pretty sure there are ways to get it working. thys guide may help
