My build:

Processor: AMD FX-8350 ( I'm going to overclock it to 4.8 or 5.0Ghz )
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Motherboard: Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z
Graphics: 2-Way CrossfireX AMD Radeon 7970
Memory: (4x4) 16Gb Corsair XMS3 2000Mhz
Case: Cooler Master Storm Enforcer
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB - 7200rpm - Sata 6GB/s
SSD: Corsair Force GT 60GB

I'll add 1 or 2 extra coolers to the case, and maybe a CD/DVD/Blu-ray reader/burner drive.

People told me to get at least a 900W power supply but i'm really in doubt wich one to get, here are the options: (these are the only options I can buy in the stores near my house, and the prices here are way higher than in the USA because of the taxes). The prices are in USD.

Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1200W - Modular - 90% Efficience (80 Plus Gold Certified) - RS-C00-80GA-D3: $420

AeroCool 1100W Strike X - Modular - Efficience 90% (80 Plus Gold Certified) - EN53761: $360

Antec 900W High Current Gamer - HCG-900 - 80 Plus Bronze Certified: $275

Thanks for any help :)

Thank you for your reply! I live in Brazil and unfortunately the taxes here are very very high... Intel isn't a viable option for me, since the 3770k is about 230 USD more expensive than the 8350, and a similar Motherboard for the 1155 socket is also about 250 USD more expensive... And when overclocking the 8350, the benchmarks show something between the 3570k and 3770k, wich would be perfect for me.

Why 900W is an overkill ? There are some videos and other sites showing that a 4.8/5.0 Overclocked 8350 can reach up to 370W under full load. That, combined with 2 7970's wouldn't exceed 850W?

:D

yeah i heard.

ok then, you may as well get the fx8320. the difference between the chips can be made up for free

as for the motherboard, can you give me a link to the site of which you are buying from? ill pick a different board. you dont need to spend that much on a motherboard

no. it doesnt work like that. you are never going to run everything at 100% load all the time, therefore you never draw that much power. so, a 850w in general is more than sufficient powering a fx chip and a set of 7970s (although 2 7950s can perform pretty close with a overclock while saving money)

Hmm I could go for a 8320, but how could I make up the difference? They have the same OC potential?
There are 2 sites, both from local stores near my house ( keep in mind that 1USD = R$2,00 ).

The first site is already filtered to show AM3+ mobos.
http://www.waz.com.br/componente/placa-mae.html?placamae_plataforma_filtro=29234&placamae_socket=1076

This second one does not have a filter for AM3+, but it's showing only AMD mobos.
http://www.oficinadosbits.com.br/products/listar.asp?CodClasse=60&NomeClasse=Placa%20Mae%20para%20AMD

I was also thinking about the 7950 or a Dual 7870s.. I don't know if I'm really going to use the power of the 7900 series. I'll mostly play Dota 2, but since i'm leaving console gaming (PS3), I'll play games such Crysis 3, Battlefield 3 and Metro 2033. And next year i'll be using a lot of photoshop and video editing programs ( like sony vegas ) for work. And Nvidia is not an option, I had A LOT of problems with my lasts nvidia cards, and I regret every cent I spent on them..

Thank you very much for the help!! :ange:

motherboard. id get this one. very good feature set but for cheaper
http://www.waz.com.br/componente/placa-mae/mb-am3-asus-m5a99x-evo-r2-0-box.html

nvidia is inherently more stable than amd just saying. and the fact that nvidai has CUDA can generally work out better than OpenCL in some editing programs

video card. holy crap these are expensive. they should come with games though

I had many nightmares with nvidia... horrible driver supports, many crashes while in game, fan failures, overheating and depending on the game I had bigger problems... And on the other hand I had a great time with my old Ati Radeon X1300 Pro, never let me down, never dragged me to any problem at all!
The Asus M5A99X Evo R2.0 has the same overclocking potential as the Crosshair V Formula-Z? Or will be harder to get a stable OC at higher clocks?

And this mobo does not support 2000Mhz memory sticks like the ones I chose, so, I'll have to change it too, any sugestions?

If I go with this mobo, the FX-8320 Overclocked and Dual 7950, wich PSU should I get?

And another question since you are kindly helping me, wich case sould I go for:
Cooler Master Storm Enforcer or Cooler Master 690 II Advanced Black? They are about the same price and I like their design.

Thank you again!! :bounce:

yeah. its been quite a while since you got your last GPU. things have completely changed.

they should overclock pretty much the same. they will show their differences in watercooling thoigh (like legit watercooling not those closed loop things)

dont bother with any ram faster than 1600mhz. its useless

as for the case, if you have a fractal define r4, id get that instead. but then if you cant find one, id say storm enforcer?

But what about the power supply? My rig will be something like this:

Processor: AMD FX-8320 OC @4.5Ghz
Heatsink: Noctua NH-D14
Motherboard: Asus M5A99X Evo R2.0
Graphics: CrossfireX 2x AMD Radeon 7950 ( Maybe OC'ed too )
Memory: (4x4) 16GB Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz 7-8-7-20
Case: Cooler Master Storm Enforcer
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm Sata 6Gb/s
SSD: Corsair Force GT 60GB

What about this one?
http://www.waz.com.br/componente/fonte/fonte/fonte-antec-900w-high-current-gamer-hcg-900-box.html

It's cheaper than most of the 850W and some 750W, but I have no idea if it's good or not..

I already have the Force GT :D
So, i'll make some reserach here and soon, I hope, I'll have the money and the time to buy everything.
Thank you for the help!! :D
