Using a TV as a PC Monitor

I'm building myself a gaming PC and I'm already stretching my budget with the components that I've chosen, so I really won't be able to buy a monitor until a month or two after I've completed my build.

I have a 22-inch 720p HD TV and I'm planning to connect it to my PC by an HDMI cable. All I want to know is; will this TV work as monitor temporarily?

We've had success with this approach with 32 inch and larger TVs

I've done that before. It's fine as a temporary solution, but I wouldn't want to use a 720p tv long term in place of a monitor. One thing to be aware of is that the native resolution for a 720p tv is usually actually 1366x768.

you will have to open the tv's control panel and make sure that that particular HDMI port is selected or it won't work.

do not choose the vga setting or use as pc monitor.

i use a 32" from time to time. it works good but I sit too close most of the time for me to like the pixal density.

Thanks for all the help. Will be mostly gaming on it anyway until I can get a 24" monitor
