Hey guys my specs are in my signature but i recently damaged one of my ram slots don't know if it was the module or the pins in the slots itself but whenever i insert into that slot i get bluescreens and such so i was wondering if i could just use 3 dimms(12gb) instead of four leaving out that broken slot and what would be the pros and cons if I do so?

As always thanks.

Well one con would be having less RAM... But hardly anyone uses more than 12GB's of RAM at a time so I would think you would be fine.
If you REALLY need 16GB's of RAM get a 2x8 module.

I think your CPU will not run dual channel with un even RAM configuration. P.S am sure of this on intel platform nt sure about AMD though

if you use 3 dimms you will have 12GB single channel mod which will hurt your performance but u may not feel it depending on what you are doing on the system

mostly just gaming and web browsing haven't really been doing much videos editing/recording because my secondary hard drive died but i will be picking up one soon, while i'm at it should i pick up 2 8 gb modules and what frequencys can the 2500k supports i would like 2133 mhz if I support it.

you would notice it in gaming mostly in editing of large videos, you could remove a stiick to make it *GB dual channel while waiting for the upgrade. Concerning the Ram speed there is not much to gain from extreme RAM speeds i;d say 1600 is very good at most 1866 cuse the higher the speed the more the latency
