Hello everyone,

I am breadboarding my Mobo with a CPU and RAM only. I have had my PSU tested by a technician and he said it was ok. I have also tried two different sticks of RAM in different slots but I still get the same problem.

When the power is turned on there is one beep shortly afterwards, then a pause then a short beep simultaneously with the system turning off. This then repeats continuously.

My mobo is this http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4325#ov the CPU is an I5 3570k and the RAM is this: http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=355

What do the error beeps mean?

Is it possible that my parts are not compatible (the RAM website has not listed my mobo and the mobo website says that the CPU is only compatible after a certain BOIS version)? Can I update the BIOS in any way?

Most of the time error beeps mean there are no ram detected. Try a different ram on that board to see if it works. Then plug your G.Skill ram on another pc to see if it works.

Or may be it can be processor overheating. Make sure your cpu cooler is securely fitted.

I do not know about your bios question.

I think the problem was the RAM. I decided to send it back and get Corsair (I verified compatibility on their website) but I also took no chances and returned the MOBO and upgraded it to the UD3H because it has the LED error code feature. I also got the CPU replaced because the stock cooler got stuck to the MOBO!

It's amazing how I spent hours on this problem and it was probably a simple matter of the parts not being compatible.
