I seem to be losing my "expert" badges (those that appear under my username on the boards). Last week I had three. Two days ago there were only two. now there's only one. Why are my badges apparently being removed?

Your badges are not being removed. Those badges under your avatar only appear in threads that are tagged with those types of badges. In other words, if you have a Windows 8 badge, it should show up for you in any thread you post to with the Windows 8 tag.

As long as you still have those badges listed in your profile you haven't lost them, as Joe has stated a badge will only show under your avatar it there is a tag for it listed in the thread. To give you an example when you started this thread you added no tags so under your Avitar there was nothing. Now I just added a tag and see what happens? However tags should only be added if they are related to the thread topic, in this case there is no forum feedback badge so I had to add one that would show one of your badges.

Currently Windows 7 , however Microsoft is about to release a service pack for Windows 8 and may also be planning something else that has to do with some kind of merge so Windows 8 may change drasticly and hopefully for the better. So stay tuned.
There are also rumors of Windows 9 in a year or two and that will give you an indication of what Windows 8 is considered to be.

So then for temporary I will stick to Windows 7. And I will wait for the service pack on Windows8
