Hi guys. Can anyone advise me? My PC is quite old now but still going strong. But it only has 2gb of ram. I bought another 2x1 GB sticks to add, same type of ram( geil black dragon pc8500 1066mhz). I've installed it but the PC won't boot up. I can however enter the bios. A friend suggested upping my voltage. But I'm unsure how much to up them.
Thanks for any replies.
Regards
Craig

Thanks for that rojodogg. I've had the pc about 5 or 6 years, but i didn't think that the ram wouldn't be compatible after all this time. Why would it work ok up till now? Would the ram issue affect overclocking of the cpu? I've never been able to overclock it over 5% without it crashing all the time, despite the temps being low! Guess i'll need to order different ram!!

What CPU do you have? Have you downloaded the latest drivers? Using RAM speed that your MOBO is no designed for could cause problems in other areas. I would suggest that you buy a new MOBO insted of more RAM, you can find a MOBO that supports the RAM you have and it would give you some security knowing that it wont have any issues.
