-16gb Ram
-1tb HDD
-750 watt psu

Thanks!

The 7970 GHZ edition is both faster and cheaper than the GTX680, and if you buy a 7970, you get a couple of free games with it (bioshock infinite, far cry 3 and a couple of others i cant remember)

If you overclock any 7970 will trounce a gtx 680 even if you overclock the gtx 680.If your not overclocking ghz 7970 is your best bet.gtx 680 and 7970 ghz are close in performance but the gtx 680 is a waste for the extra money imo.I would personally take the 7950 over all of them and overclock the crap out of it.Yes a 7950 maxed overclocked gpu will hang and sometimes better a maxed overclocked gtx 680.

He never specified a price guys so i'm just gonna throw out there a gtx titan that will trounce everything :). Its quiet as a kitten and i can sum it up in a single word (Dominate). But since he was only asking 7970 or 680 i'd say go for the 7970.

Even if price isnt that important i would not reccomend a titan.Dont think $600 dollars is worth the price over a 7970 when there is only a 15% difference in performance.I would reccomend a titan if it came down to $550-$600 where it belongs

Your statement doesn't make any sense. You said you wouldn't recommend a Titan even if the price wasn't an issue, yet that was your justification anyways.

Simply put, if money is not an issue, get a GTX Titan. It blows the 680 and 7970 out of the water, uses GPU boost 2.0 (much better than the original), and it has 6GB of vram, which is very handy for high resolution gaming, even on one monitor (Hitman Absolution with MSAA x8 uses over 3GB of vram on 2560x1440).

Yea it is a tad overpriced but i found that 3 monitor surround gaming in 3d just didn't work with anything less. Not for me anyways. And since i despise sli and crossfire that meant i needed the top single card. No more worrying about stuttering issues or what was it they call it frame latency i think i read somewhere. Even at high settings in some games when it supposedly dips to 30fps or so people say I haven't noticed anything in game.

Theres a difference between money not being an issue and just throwing your money down the toilet. If your going to spend a grand get 2 gtx 680's instead of a titan or a gtx 690 for that matter.

They own it in fps but do they actually win when playing the game? Having a game run at 120 fps for instance that stutters causing you to die or having a game run at 60fps that doesn't stutter which would you choose. I've made my choice. I had already picked up my 3 asus vg248qe monitors that do nvidia 3d vision and really wanted to do some 3d gaming (which i really do love). So I was limited at that point to just nvidia at that point but for the sake of price like he asked above i would recommend the 7970.
Not having to wait for profiles to properly play a game what is that worth to you?
Not having to deal with multi-gpu configs what is that worth?
Although 3d does have its limits there is a massive selection of them available to nvidia cards already.

I hear what your saying air to each there own but i dont think op is playing with 3 monitors maybe i missed it.As far as microstutter goes to me its overstated ive played many games with my 7970/7950 crossfire rigs and can honestly say the only game that microstutter was noticable was farcry 3.I do prefer sli over crossfire still tho.In my lighter rig im running 2 gtx 660 non ti at 1080p and is more then enough for anything right now and again have not seen noticable microstutter and sli deffinetly plays farcry 3 better then crossfire did.Im not saying titans are bad cards i wouldnt mind having one but ive seen to many people overly defending the price they paid for one which tells me they regretted the purchase.I see where your coming from tho Air

Yea i think its one of those things where you know you shouldn't pay the price but you want one so bad so you just say screw it and go get one :). Good thing i work lots so i only get to unload money every once in a while. Perhaps i should get crysis 3 and give it a run see what settings I can get up to and still play comfortably. Thats another thing though while one person might say they can't stand less than 60fps the next says 30fps seems good. I play tomb raider in 3d surround and despite what the benchmark in game reports to me I haven't once seen any blurring or lag.

I wasn't even aware of profiles being needed for 3x monitors to be honest. Any game i've ever tried has worked flawlessly for me so I haven't even had a reason to check. The 3D part is a bit annoying at times but if i need I drop down to 2d and it works like a charm.

I don't believe there is any stuttering issue as a result of SLI when you use 3D Vision. Since every frame is two images, each card renders its own frame at the same time, so there is no syncing issue, and since v-sync is locked on regardless, it wouldn't matter much anyways.

I'd love two see how two titan's handle 3D Surround. I do have high standards, but it is a result of simulator sickness. I get nauseated anything less than 50 FPS pretty fast. Even at a constant 60 FPS, I have to break after 30-60 minutes.

I did find when i intially bought a 670 that running 3 monitors in 3d surround that if the fps dropped too low the 3d depth seemed really off. After returning it and dropping a titan in I no longer have the problems and I can play for hours with no issues.

I've never seen that happen, but I get simulator sickness at lower FPS, so I just never let it go low. I get the same issue in 2D. I was just mentioning that SLI is pretty flawless for 3D. All the pitfalls normally associated with multi-GPU doesn't apply due to the nature of how 3D is rendered.

and with that logic ill recommend two, lets keep this civilized before someone recommends the 690 and to be released 7990

Already been recommended by way to sli lord tumnas but yea i suppose we kind of went off in a different direction. As i stated before though if choosing between the 680 and 7970 i'd go for the 7970 without a second thought. Considering say a second card in the future i would recommend 680s instead.

Thank you all for the reply's i am very gratefull, as i am new to this site i am not sure how to answer all of your replys so ill do it like this instead haha, I'm looking for a decent card that will peform well without the need to overclock... I will be using it for Gaming and Media ( Photoshop, AfterEffects and Sony Vegas) I think that the Titan and the 690 are far too expensive and the these to were a stretch for me as well, at the moment i have a GTX 650... I think i will go with the 7970 based on your responses thank you for the help!
