Panel fit turns monitor black

I connected my notebook to a bigger monitor and when I disconnected it the picture wouldn't fit properly to my notebook screen, so I tried to "fix" that by clicking on something from Graphic options/ properties called "panel fit" (or so I think). Now when I turn it on it works until windows loads and then the screen turns black, while everything else carries on. What should I do?

i think for some reason your notebook thinks it's still connected with the other monitor.
Try to connect it again with the monitor, then go on screen resolution and set only the notebook's monitor as active

Thank you for your prompt response!
My notebook wasn't still connected to the monitor and plugging it back did not work.
It turns out that the resolution I set was not supported by the display, so I fixed it going "blind" by using the keyboard.
