First Build (Need some help)

I'm trying to get my build right since it's my first custom build for mainly gaming. I put together this build but I keep tweaking it over and over. Would really like some opinions on it if possible and maybe some better tips. My overall fund is probably like between $1400-1500 but I may can go a little above it. More then likely going to get windows 8 for free but not sure atm.

  1. Your skimping too much on the gpu. In such a high budget for a gaming rig, it's pretty easy to get the top line gpu.

No need for such an expensive motherboard if it means you have to get a weaker gpu. This motherboard will overclock really well.
Cheaper ram, will perform just about the same.
WD Caviar Blue provides the same performance at a cheaper price. Only difference is the 3year warranty compared to black's 5year.
Not sure if you wanted to crossfire/sli, but i put in a psu only able to handle a single gpu. Went with a 650w because it's the same price as the xfx 550w.
Used saved money to up the gpu to a 7970.
  2. For $1500, ^^^ THAT is the best build youll get.
  3. I seen the 7970 but was told for games such as WoW, Bf3 and skyrim it's a bit overkill in general. Was Kinda wanting to keep with as much of a all black build as possible. As stupid as that sounds I suppose.
  4. Why not go overkill if the build is a bit cheaper?
Anyways, if you're only playing WoW, Bf3 and skyrim and don't plan on playing anything else now or in the future, just grab the EVGA GTX670 FTW 2gb. Great gpu with PhysX, something Bf3 really enjoys.
Though, if you plan on playing Bf4, I heard Bf4 is with AMD gpus.
  5. 7970 will future proof your system for a few years. Just saying.
