I know about the heating problems when overclocking the i5-3570k. I just want to oc which ever one I go with to 4.0ghz using the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. I also heard the thermal paste suck on the 15-3570k, but which one would be a better buy when looking at pros and cons on a Z75 PRO3 chipset? I plan to use my pc as my gaming rig. Please help!

My built.

Motherboard: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007P709YI/ref=ox_sc_a...

Case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003O8J11E/ref=oh_deta...

PSU: http://www.ebay.com/itm/190419139184?ssPageName=STRK:ME...

And I plan to upgrade to the GTX680, but not have the two running on the same board.

i wouldnt oc on the stock cooler, pretty foolish to do so, ur risk but in that situation if ur not getting a aftermarket cooler ever, then the 2500k. The 3570k does produce more heat, but then requires less of an oc to reach the 2500k as its generation newer

I know. I decided to get the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and not be cheap. So with the heat sink. Which would be better?

the 3570k, again ull get higher overclocks on the 2500k but u need less of an oc to reach a higher clocked 2500k . People have taken the heatsink off the cpu and add their own choice of thermal paste to reduce temps, but voids warranty and the heatsink doesnt stay in place after. The after market cooler should make up the temp difference from the two and the better performance from the 3570k should allow for temps to be fine and similar to a higher clockerd 2500k

He means the IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader), the metal cap on the chip, not the heatsink.

As for my opinion, I would go with the 3570K, as you can always upgrade your cooler to reach higher clocks at a later date if you so choose. Ivy Bridge is at least 5% faster than Sandy Bridge, so a 4.0 GHz OC on SB would equal a 3.8 GHz OC on IB (which is the stock turbo boost).

Get the 2500K so you can get something from the Z77 chipset.
