since having new mother board installed the computer shuts down after 45mins saying overheating but it is,nt and can be restarted right away, any ideas welcome
What temps is it running at idle and when you're doing something? Just because its new doesn't mean there could be something wrong, it could be as simple as too much thermal paste or the heat sink isn't seated properly to the PSU not being powerful enough or just a simple too high of a OC for the heatsink to handle?

Riddle me this: How do you know it isn't overheating if you haven't check the temps?
I use CoreTemp (http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/) to monitor my CPU temperatures.
You can check your BIOS, and see what the maximum temperature its set to before it shuts down.
Depending on your mobo model, it can be hidden in various places
