Well, i was cleaning the other day and decided for some odd reason to vaccum my computer case fans which apparently creates quite a bit of static electricity. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but figured id include that info. Anyway, after i vacuumed it the computer failed to even start up in any way. i kinda gave up for the day and tried to find the issue again today. I thought maybe the psu was bad, so i hooked it up to a spare computer i had laying around and it worked just fine. Then i thought the mobo could be bad, i switched out the mobo for the two computers and plugged it in with just the cpu fan and heatsink and it powered up just fine and seemed to be working okay. So i put the other computers mobo into my main case and it gave the two post beeps for memory errors. It had always done that ive tried numerous things, thats why its a spare just laying about. But i turned it off and back on again now all the case fans and lights come on for a split second and the machine powers back down again. Im not sure what the issue could be in the least, ive spent countless hours over the past 2 days doing nothing but trial and error. I thought about rma'ing the mobo or psu but they both work just fine. Could the vacuum somehow have left a bit of static to make the mobo's short out when in the case? Sorry if any of this makes no sense, i havent been to sleep yet.

Well, it sounds like you were vacuuming the case fans while the PC was still connected to the mains power and the residual power that flows from the mains when the PC is shut down can cause a short in the motherboard if static electrcity is an issue.

You could try unplugging the power cord from the PC wait for about 10 minutes then plug it back in, turn on mains power then try to power on.
