Need Help on what to buy for a New Build

I have Just recently decided that its time to get rid of the Laptop and get my hands on an up to date Gaming PC as certain Games tend to be very slow on my current laptop.

I have decided that i would like to build my own PC from scratch so i was just wondering if someone could advise me on what parts should i buy. Just a List would be helpful thanks. Looking to play games such as SimCity 5 and Battle field 3 in really good quality.



Budget Range - Around £500

Going to be used for General use with a bit of Gaming on the side


Amazon would be great to buy parts however will buy from other websites


Country - UK


Don't need an Operating System

I have only basic experience in this so will just listen and let you decide on what should i buy.

CPU - AMD FX 6300
Motherboard - AsRock 990fx extreme3
GPU - AMD HD 7790 / AMD HD 7850 / NVIDIA GTX 650 Ti Boost (take your pick - 7790 is cheaper, 7850 is great but maybe outside your budget, and 650 Ti is slightly more expensive and under testing gives better performance than the 7790, and also has the bonus of PhysX (NVIDIA's physics particle engine). Take note that there are some nice deals with these parts, for instance from Novatech your 650 Ti will get you Assassin's Creed 3 and £50 in game credit for Hawken, World of Tanks and Planetside 2, whilst your AMD cards will bag you one or more of Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite and Far Cry 3 depending on where you purchase)
Memory - Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB.
PSU - Corsair Enthusiast Series 500W
Case - Zalman Z11 Plus
HDD - Seagate Barracuda, choose your size of 500GB+

Seems fairly solid - you probably won't need a CPU cooler straight off as CPUs come with a stock cooler when you buy them anyway, and the 6300 runs very cooly (enough to OC to about 4.0GHz without an aftermarket cooler). Of course if you're going to be OCing more ten a better cooler would be good.

Also, you're memory isn't a paticularly well regarded brand. You can get Corsair Vengeance ram for the same price, although the transfer speed will be slightly slower (not enough to really warrant the upgrade).

Also, in my honest opinion the Z11 Plus looks nicer than the Z9 and only costs about £7-10 more. Also I believe the cooling is slightly better. Of course if the £10 matters to you then go for it

I dont think i am going to be overclocking. I have also got a 500GB Hard Drive that im not using for anything else ( I Know its low but i dont think i need that much storage as im only going to be playing like 5 games Max.

I also have an optical drive too soo i wont be needing that either.
