removing items from desktop

HI,I would like to clean up my desktop,can i put any and all items into a folder and
what would the procedure be.
I searched on forums for some info but did not get exactly what i was looking for
The procedure i would like to see is (step#1),(step#2)ETC.this way i do not need to read between the lines,thanks

To create a folder on the desktop:
1) Right click on the desktop (that is click with the right mouse button)
2) Click on New
3) Click on Folder
4) Type in a name for the folder
5) Press Enter on the keyboard

To move icons to the folders you have created:
1) Click and hold the left mouse button
2) Drag it to the appropriate folder
3) Release the mouse button
