So I'm upgrading from an Athlon x2 250 to a Phenom II x4 965 and I want to know whether or not My PSU will handle it (400W)

System Specs:

CPU: Athlon x2 250 3.0GHz
RAM: 8Gb Kingston 1333mhz
Mobo: 880GM-LE FX
GPU: Sapphire Radeon 6670 DDR5 1GB
HDD: Seagate 500GB 7200 RPM
DD: 24x SATA

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I dont think 400W is enough, 500W may be ok but I would go for 600W to be safe. I have been looking at this myself. I rebuilt an intel quad core q6600, with nvidia nforce 680i chipset, radeon HD 6790, 6gb ddr2 and 500W psu. This ran windows 7 ok on the surface but the system and cpu temp were at about 45C and 65C when playing games and fans running fast. from previous experience I knew this was a psu issue and have fitted 750W. PC now runs cool at idle 30C and 40C under load. Maybe you could try with 400W and download core temp, if temperatures are high then i would say this is a sign that a higher output psu is required. also when buying a psu i would pay for a decent brand like corsair or ocz not anything cheap like cit (they dont last long and are lacking in the correct connectors.
