Beep codes are BIOS-dependent. But usually 5 beeps does in fact mean a processor error. Not necessarily a dead processor, just that it is reporting an error. That error may or may not be detrimental to the use of the system, but I would consider replacing it anyway, if it were mine.

I just built the computer. Should I try to return it?

As Clutchc said, 5 beeps is a CPU error. Could be many different things, before returning it, remove the CPU and check the pins, make sure they are all straight. Then reseat the CPU. Also check to make sure your Motherboard BIOS is the right version to support your CPU, if not update your motherboard BIOS. 3rd, if for some reason you're miscounting your beeps check your RAM, swap out the DIMMs and see if that fixes it.
