Cpu Fan/Heatsink: Vigor Monsoon 3 LT

Hey guys, I have a Vigor Monsoon 3 LT heatsink and one of the fans went out awhile back so I ordered another. Well on fan is 4-pin and the other is 3-pin, so I decided to just use them like that and plugged one fan into the 4 pin slot and the other into the 3. Anyways question is how can I monitor and control both of these fans? One fan showed up the in BIOs (I believe the one I installed just now) and the other through CPU Fan Control.

I believe both original fans on that cooler were wired together (probably in parallel) to one 4-pin connector for plugging into the 4-pin PWM header for the CPU FAN. You must have cut the wires from the bad fan loose, correct?
