Hi guys, I have a budget of around £800-£900 to build a new gaming tower and am not sure if this is a good build or not.

-MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost Edition 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **NEW REVISION**
-Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W)
-MSI Z77 MPower Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 ATX Motherboard
-Corsair Vengeance C70 Midi Tower
-Samsung 128GB SSD 840 PRO SATA

Coming in at around £800

I will also need something to cool the CPU but don;t know what would be a good choice.

I already have 8gb DDR3 RAM and an Antec 650 psu + keyboard, mouse, monitor etc so none of that is needed.

So would what I listed be a good build (performance and cost) or could I do better?

Thanks for any help.

That looks like a pretty solid gaming build. As for increased performance, how much of your budget do you have left to work with? Also, how much are you looking to spend on a CPU cooler?

pretty much what i would do.

the C70 has very restricted airflow so cooling is not the best for it.

for CPU cooler, the hyper 212 evo should get you to 4.2 GHz easy. If wanting to get more then go for this one

Cool I will look into those thanks.
After what I listed I may be able to push up to another £100 for a cooler and any alterations.

Don't go spending so much on the Cooler, the place where you should and want to be spending it on is the GPU. Also you can spend on a 750-850W PSU depending on what GPU you get so you can CFX/SLI.

something to mention though, the 670 can SLI with 650W and have a decent OC. 7950 needs 750W. 7970(unlocked, meaning GHz edition or unlocking the card yourself) needs 850W for CFX

The NZXT Havik seems to get pretty good reviews so I think I will add that to my shopping list.
As for the PSU, in all honesty I don't know If I will be able to afford to SLI/Crossfire for a good while and I don't know if I will attempt to OC (never tried to before!) so hopefully my Antec 650 truepower will suffice for the time being.

yea a 650W should be good for a while and i trust Antec for their PSUs as i still have a 650W still running in one of my machines for a few years already.(release date of 1st gen i5)

If you are going AMD GPUs, you should really OC because that is where they shine over Nvidia GPUs. If you don't want to waste your time in OCing, grab a 670 instead. Either GPU you get, you should be very happy with it.

Awesome, thanks for the advice.

So now on my shopping list:
-NZXT Havik Cooler
-Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W)
-Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD4H ATX LGA1155
-Samsung 128GB SSD 840 PRO SATA
-either gigabyte windforce 7950 or MSI Frozer III 7950
and will have another look around for a better case.

I think when I get the 7950 I will (cautiously) take my 1st steps into OC'ing!

Thanks again for the recommendations and advice.
