ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe bios ver. 1604
Yes I know this System is dated, I built it back in 2007 but I am a non-gamer, so it suits my needs and is my main computer.
My Specs:
G.SKILL 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 Brisbane 2.7GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor ADO5200DOBOX
Cooler Master CM 690 Case
Antec EarthWatts EA-500D Green 500 Watt Power Supply
3 sata hard drives
dual boot operating system
Xp 32 bit I use daily and Vista 64 bit
I have a cheap video card installed
HIS HD 3450 iFan 256MB (64bit) DDR2
PCI Express x16 (PCI Express 2.0)

I am looking to get a video card that has a hdmi out for watching movies and a vga output as my monitor only uses that.. I was looking at this item at newegg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
not sure what my system can handle as far as bottlenecks are concerned, and I will also need some input on a processor upgrade.. thanks for any input..

While that graphics card should work with your system, I'd think it's actually a step down from your HD3450. At a minimum, go with a GT620 or GT630.

As for processor upgrades and given your system usage, I really don't think one is necessary, but here is the CPU Support List for your motherboard. There are quite a few options for upgrades, but many of them would require a BIOS update and availability of these processors will be limited. Remember, low supply means high cost.

there is no limit on the PCIE 16x 2.0 slot, heck you could even go for a Quad gtx 690 :p

if you have the money, get a hd7750, little bit overkill for that processor, but it would serve you well

As chromic states, there's technically no upper limit as to what card you install. The HD7750 chromic suggests would work, but for what you're using this system for, it's probably overkill. The GT620/GT630 should be just fine for your needs.
