Guys I bought Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X GHz edition and I wanted to know few things about it
1- What should be the average temperatures of the card while under load with about 30-32 deg C as average ambient temps

2- What should be the maximum temperatures it can go safely and not degrade

3- How much can I overclock the card on the stock Vapor-X cooling tech?

4- Could someone give me details or screenies or something of their 7970 Vapor-X overclocks?

Thanks :D

I personally do not have a 7970,but it is a general rule of thumb that GPU's do not go over 90-95C.
As for 2),3) and 4) I am sorry that I cannot answer you.
But I suggest MSI Afterburner for the OC utility.
Best of luck in OC'ing your 7970.

so well basically the operating temps of the graphic card under load should be below 90? because I was currently running all my games pretty smoothly... managing above an average 70 FPS in all.. so i was thinking what if I overclocked it and then would it run crysis 3 on full? so yea thats the story of it.. currently I am at a clock speed of 1050 MHz

Well for my Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 OC I am using a 1100/1450 setup with a mininum of 55% on fans and 22% extra power.Works like a dream for me.Use my setup maybe and increase the clocks in increments of 50 and there you go.For Crysis, maybe, just maybe it would run it on full.Stress test it first though. No one likes struggling through a hard and long level to get a crash error.Hope this helped.

True that man, currently I am on 1170/1500 and I have no idea what you mean by that fan and extra power thing man, this is, believe it or not, my FIRST graphic card :p  so I have absolutely no idea what to do :p  also, at this config, I was playing Crysis warhead on completely full graphics on a 1280x1024 setup and had a max temp of about 41 degrees, so is it okay?

Well go to your AMD Vision Engine Control Centre and go to the performance tab.You will see a Graphics Overdrive function.Enable it and set your power, fan speed and stuff. And you are on to a great,GREAT start if this is your first graphic card. And your temps are perfectly fine.

I'm using sapphire TriXX... Find it less complicated... can't really understand all that techie lingo in the AMD overdrive.. and get freaked out when my CPU starts to spin too fast :/

My setup in order for it to stay stable but be blazingly fast is 1200MHz Core clock and 1550MHz Memory Clock with 70% fan speed and 15% more power supply :)
Hope that helps !
EDIT : I simply use AMD OverDrive
!
