Do +4 pin adapters exist?

I recently built myself my first gaming PC, but one thing I found was that the PSU I bought only had a 4-pin ATX connector and the motherboard required an 8-pin connector. The PC has been running very well so far, so my first question is whether or not the full 8-pin power supply is necessary.

Then, does a 4-pin to 8-pin adapter actually help? For my graphics card, I needed two 6-pin connectors, but I only had one, and so I used the provided adapter to convert two molexes into another. So the 6-pin is effectively taking twice as much input as a molex, and so one would expect that an 8-pin adapter would require two 4-pin inputs to actually make a difference.

And finally, do +4 pin adapters exist? What I mean by this is an adapter that takes a molex or a SATA power supply (I have one spare of each) and turns it into the +4 half of an 8-pin connector. This is assuming of course that a +4 pin connector can slot into any 4-pin connector, which I am not actually sure about.
