It's doubtful you are bottlenecking a Core i7-860 processor.

Here's how you find out:
Install MSI Afterburner (or GPU-Z, Precision X, etc.) > run the hardware monitor while playing a game with VSync OFF > Check your GPU Usage (%) > If you are running at 99% GPU usage, then no bottleneck, anything less is a bottleneck for that particular game.

If you are bottlenecking, try higher graphics settings, a different game, or overclock your CPU to eliminate it. I really think, however, that your GTX 660 Ti pairs nicely with a Core i7-860 CPU.

Hi there Thankyou for the responce it seems to run at 92/98% with GW2 without vancl and 90/95 with

My only issue so far is it seems choppy in game for split seconds and can't figure out why

Are you running the latest drivers off the Nvidia website?
What kind of FPS are you getting?
Have you tried running with Adaptive VSync enabled?
Just a few suggestions to get started.

How would I get adaptive vsync running? I haven't downloaded any drivers from the site only off the disc proclaimed and through device management

Sorry I'm fairly new to the whole do it myself scene :-)

**UPDATE DURING NORMAL GAME PLAY ON FULL SETTINGS IM AT 50% gpu USAGE ON MAX SETTINGS*** is this bad?

Ah good, we have someplace to start.
First go to:
www.nvidia.com/download
I'm not sure if you would be using the United States version like I am, so go ahead and select your country at the top. Then download the appropriate drivers using the drop down menus.

Install the new drivers by double clicking on them. Don't install the driver components you do not need (3D Vision, HD Audio, Update). Do install the drivers and PhysX software at a minimum.

Adaptive VSync will be in the Nvidia Control Panel under "Manage 3D Settings". It's located all the way at the bottom.

Okay, don't get too caught up in your GPU usage until you update to the latest 314.22 drivers.
April 10, 2013 1:51:23 PM

Okay, so I've updated to the above driver and apparently have physx software, so when I'm playing in game and the choppiness only seems to start when I'm moving the camera around which is a lot in GW2 :-(any other suggestions. ?

Did you try to enable Adaptive VSync?
What FPS are you getting?
April 10, 2013 2:40:13 PM

I enable the adaptive vsync as you suggested, I don't seem to see any change the FPS I get is around 50-60 which is good, just don't know why I get choppy lag spikes, I'm thinking I should try some other games to see if it is just this game, I have Skyrim which might be worth trying.

I've kept the adaptive vsync on anyway

Yeah, try some other games. You should be running pretty smoothly in Skyrim, which I'm playing on a similar system. Choppiness could be related to your hard drive as well or some settings in the Nvidia Control Panel (like Ambient Occlusion) that are incompatible with the game.

By the way, mentioning Ambient Occlusion, you should enable it for Skyrim through the game-specific setting in the Nvidia Control Panel.
