Try using a program called getdataback. Unfortunately, it's not free.

You can download a free demo and see that your pictures are still there before you decide to buy it. There are probably free programs that can do it, but I don't know any off the top of my head. Try the demo. You'll need the version for FAT, not the version for NTFS.

One more thing to be aware of, this software is not exactly easy to use. You may want to ask a computer savvy friend for help.
