The 7870 is better than the 660 according to benchmarks, but is also like 50 USD more expensive, the 7870 is more like the competence for the 660 ti but the 660 ti is better as overclocked it can easly compete with a 7950 or a gtx 670.
In conclusion if you can get the 7870 get it better than the 660

u will need a new power supply a 300watt power supply that is prob a weird no name brand is not enough for a card like a 7870 or 660 ti. I would say get a 500-600 watt psu to be safe, corsair, xfx, seasonic all make good pretty decently cheap ones around 500-600watts

Any recommendations. something that will cost around 60$ I don't want to waist a lot of money on the PS.

I was thinking of buying of the 660 because of the price drop that it got. Im just not sure what to get because i want to know is it worth paying the extra money for the 7870.

What kind of games are you planning to play? with the 660 you will not be able to play some games at ultra quality in 1080p like crysis 3 or far cry 3 with more than 45 fps, but the 7870 will sure do.

Well i want to play games like crysis 3, battlefield 3, and bioshock but do you, in your opinion think that its worth paying the 50$ more? Im not that good at pc games and i can take a small hit in the FPS until later on when I fully go pc gaming. By that time ill be expecting more new graphics cards to come out. That is the only reason why i want to know if its better to pay the 50$ more.

corsair cx500 $60 or cx600 for $65- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027
Seasonic 520 $65 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151094
XFX core 550watt $70 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207013

I would get one of the corsair power supplies over the seasonic thats just me, and the xfx will be higher quality than the corsair ones so if price is an issue then the 500-600 watt corsair for sure if u want quality and can spend $70 would go xfx

If I were you i will pick the 7870 look this, it has better numbers just consumes a little bit more power:

Also watch this video comparison between the 7870 and the 660 Ti that means that 7870 is a high end card not mid range as the gtx 660 is

Thank you for the video. I will chose the 7870. Do you know if they have any sales on it or if anyone is give free games if you buy it? I saw that some cards came with bioshock infinite.

no i didnt and i just looked and it comes with crysis 3 and bioshock infinite. the card is just 209$ thanks for mentioning it. much love.

to be honest the 660 is about on par with the 7870, trade blows depending on game and detail settings. In most reviews the 660 is about 2-5% slower overall, but its more than 2-5% cheaper. If you got a factory oc'd 660 (its actually hard to find one that isnt), that abolishes any difference in performance.
