Greetings comrades, this is my first post though I have been a long time *lurker* here.
The thing is is that I run 12 gigs of gaming ram, 4 quad core i7's, and the problem being is that the default ATI Radeon 4800HD is bottlenecking my FPS/Gaming possibilities.
Therefore I'm upgrading to a "VisionTek Radeon 7850 2GB DDR5" but I have had interest in the following: (Unless someone has a better suggestion in a similar price range).
My problem is that my default Dell XPS 435MT PSU is rated at 300W although it says it can goto 360W. The name of the PSU is a "Liteon RH744"...Regardless I'm certain that this is far to little for what the card I want to be able to work consistently, properly, and also the ram upgrades, fantastic CPU's, and two terabyte HD's can handle.
In conclusion my main problem thus far and even after speaking with the lead Dell tech for 4 HOURS neither of us could find the actual dimensions of the "Liteon RH744" placed in this mini-tower. Therefore I need assistance in the most desperate way to figure out not only what PSU I need that can replace the crap stock model and fit/work properly including providing adequate power to my video card & all other hardware, but also what wattage and additional options (Such as what connectors I'll need to properly use my Video Card and other hardware) from said PSU I should purchase that will run & integrate into my system perfectly.
PS: I originally planned on the: XFX AMD Radeon HD7870 2 GB DDR5 2DVI/HDMI/2x Mini DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card or the "XFX FX-785A-CNL4 RADEON 7850 860MHz 2GB GDDR5 (Or the best 7850 equivalent, just listed the core as a starting point)". But I have no need, nor never will for additional monitor support for instance... The requirements between these three different cards are vastly different (Including Pricing) but from what I can tell the only difference really being is due to the XFX having so many extra features towards multiple display use and etc, of which I don't need... Am I correct here? All informative replies in this thread I will be grateful for, regardless of if they increase or lower my current plan, in that regard all I ask is to provide solid data and reasons for your differing opinion.
