I am probably going with the Corsair vengence C70 military, I have $1500 to spend. this build puts me at around $1100. I am looking for something good now that I can upgrade later. Any suggestions, I am pretty set on AMD, like bang for my buck, I believe the am3+ is the more future proof of the sockets. Thanks for any advice.

I know most here recommend Intel 3570 or 3770, but wouldn't the fx8350 be more future proof(when games start using more than a couple core)? This is going to be purely for gaming and internet browsing. Thank you.

if you're only going to game then the 3570/3770 still win as they are better when it comes to gaming but if you get an I7 then you have hyperthreading technology which would put it at the same level as the 8350 in terms of threads, also games aren't going to use more than 4 cores any time soon as 4 cores are more than enough for today's games.

But games don't really make use of the extra threads. You're paying $100 for almost no gain in performance over an i5. It's not really worth it.

Sentey Extreme Division GS-6410 ARVINA PLUS Sandy Mate Black SECC / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Sentey cases are crap, there's far better you can get for that price like a Define R4, NZXT Phantom, Cooler Master HAF XM, tons of others. Sentey is a tier 4 or tier 5 vendor at best.

Here's what I would suggest on your budget:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

- i5-3570K is better than FX-8350
- Way better (and less expensive) case
- GPU is the same
- Added Vertex 4 SSD
- You don't need 16GB of RAM for a gaming rig
- Seasonic power supply

You have $1500 to spend, and I assume you're going for gaming only

I like the Corsair C70 in black, but I really dig it in the Army green.

Why would you consider dual 7870 XT and not a single 7970 GHz edition? SLI / Crossfire is usually for either end of life or when you've got tons of money to spend.

Always get the single strongest card you can get - never settle for two weaker ones. SLI / Crossfire can cause micro stuttering leading to your games crashing, if not properly setup, and is generally reserved for end of life GPUs or if you have tons of money to spend.

Ok, thanks so is the 7970 worth it over the 7950???
I guess everyones consensus is dump the FX8350 and go with an I5 3570.

Definitely on both counts, but make sure you get the i5-3570K if you're overclocking, i5-3350P or i5-3470 if you don't.

7970 honestly isn't worth it over the 7950, the performance gap is small (note I bought my 7970 before the 7950 came out). If it fits in your budget get the 7970, but you may want to upgrade other parts of your build too.
