New AMD Graphics Card

Excuse the ignorance but I just want to make sure my new graphics card is running to its fullest potential. Just bought a AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB Myst Series graphics card. I believe I have the latest AMD catalyst version (13.1). I am trying to figure out if the catalyst program automatically updates the drivers in a new graphics card. I had 13.1 catalyst installed before I put in my graphics card. I have done some research but have failed to find any definitive information saying the catalyst program automatically updates the drivers in a new card.

no it doesnt, just download the auto-detect software, run it. and it will get you the best drivers atm.
