Asus P5Q deluxe onboard power button illuminated but would not start

Hello,

There was a lightning storm last night. As a precaution I shut down my computer and disconnected the power cable from the electrical outlet.

This morning when I press the power button nothing happens, no fans spin... nothing. I opened up the case. The motherboards onboard power and reset button are illuminated, but when I press that power button, again nothing happens.

Is my motherboard gone, or is there anything else I could look into?

Connect a fan to a PSU molex and see if it does spin.

I accidentally found jsc's post explaining that the motherboard light on does not mean the PSU is working. I borrowed a working PSU and my computer started right away.
