no, the GPU recommendation is for a mediocre PSU to run the whole system. so for example if graphic card A states it recommends a 400w PSU, then it means a mediocre 400w PSU will power the entire PC including graphics cards.

So do you think I could probably run a recommended 350 or 400 watt (I've seen that it only draws 65) on a 300W PSU alright, I don't think I'll be doing anything crazy with it.

something like an AMD 5670 or 6670 off a generic HP or DELL 300w PSU? It will work OK.

I went to this site but when I tried to go back to do the calculator today, no matter what I do I can't get to it, even tried another computer. Is there something wrong with the site or what?

google "thermaltake psu calculator" should be first hit, and go in that way

update: it does not appear to be working everytime, keep trying, they must have heavy traffic tonight or be doing maintenance. Its really a good tool.

Yeah im getting it like every tenth or eleventh try.

This one's acting up too, thank's anyway,I think I've got a good idea of what I'm dealing with from a calculator on newegg.com.

I got an estimate of 360W needed if I get the GeForce GTX 650 I want ($100 MSI on newegg), I found a Seasonic 430W ($60 on amazon) and thought I better not go any lower than that, I also found a SeaSonic 520W ($70 on newegg). Should I go for the 520 or do I even need that much so I should just save $10. Also, if anyone has some tips on where to buy better than what I've got, that would be nice.

Total power draw on that card is going to be low in the mid 60s range as its designed to compete with the 7750. Im really not even sure why they have the 6 pin power aux on it as the slot can provide that. The 430 would be plenty. Is the msi version the 650ti? I remember seeing an email ad from tiger for the 650 ti for 120 after a 20 dollar rebate. Its worth little extra if thats the card your after

I was just looking at the 650 but if I could get the ti for the same price I'll definitely look into that, thanks for the tip.

Heres a link to the card. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/ite... its a 10 dollar rebate. Still thats not bad for the ti version. Believe it or not I installed a standard EVGA 650 last month on a family members home machine. They like it, Great card for that price niche.

Standard 650 / Ti superclocked

1058Mhz GPU Clock /1202Mhz GPU Clock
33.8GT/s Texture Fill Rate /38.4GT/s Texture Fill Rate
1024MB GDDR5 Memory /1024MB GDDR5 Memory
5000Mhz Memory Clock /5000Mhz Memory Clock
80GB/s Memory Bandwidth /80GB/s Memory Bandwidth

Were you looking at the 1 Gb or 2 GB version? The 2 gb version ti is only 140 with a small rebate but it your going to spend more then 125 or 130 the 660 becomes a viable option.

Anyway, yeah, Corsair makes a decent PSU. I run a CX 600.
Tiger is used by a lot of builders, their customer product reviews are typically pretty good info on the product.
