Best Gaming CPU without overclocking

hey guys can anyone answer my question... what is the best gaming processor preferably i5 and below ( due to tight budget, cant afford i5 3570k, much more an i7) my board is going to be a z77 mobo... i plan to play skyrim and farcry 3 on high with my gfx gtx 650ti 1gb or 7850 2gb.. i am also open for any upgrade paths you may recommend... thanks

I'd say go with an i3 if it's only for gaming, you have 4 threads, and most games don't use more than 1.

Erm, an i5-3550p is around $170 Found Here though it is Ivy Bridge, so you either need to flash your BIOS, or get an Ivy Bridge capable MOBO, though I would recommend an AMD FX-6300, since you are going budget

I would spend a little more money and get the ASUS Sabertooth 990fx R2.0, and use the extra money you saved to get the AMD FX-8350 8 core edition at 4.0 GHz, and as a added bonus the new performance side of the AMD FX-8350 uses a "buffer" in which if the first 4 cores are used extremely heavily (example gaming), the other 4 cores not used will step up and provide a buffer for the first 4 cores that are being used, to smooth out performance. It was a video i watched on Newegg with a tech from AMD. So you basically get the power of 8 cores in 4 cores for gaming.
